How It Works
STEP 1 – Registration and Accept the Lending Policy
STEP 2 – Choose the item from the Library of Things website (circularlibraryforall.org)
STEP 3 – Choose for how long you want to borrow the item
STEP 4 – Pay the daily lending fee online depending on how many days you need the item
STEP 5 – Pick the item up from the Library of Things (16-18 Liasidou Str, 1015 Nicosia)
STEP 6 – Return the item on time at the Library of Things (the item will be checked according to the lending policy)
Important information:
- Users must be registered members to be able to borrow items from the Library of Things.
- Members may borrow items based on the lending policies of the Library of Things.
- Members are responsible for adhering to all lending policies and returning items promptly and clean according to the Lending Policy.
REGISTRATION – PROCESS AND CONDITIONS
Membership and Registration requirements:
- Registration requires valid identification card with a picture.
- Registration requires proof of current address (e.g. telephone bill, electricity bill etc).
- Members must be 18years old or older.
- Members agree to provide accurate and up-to-date information during the registration process.
- Members must read, understand, and accept the Terms and Conditions and the Lending Policy before registering.
LIBRARY OF THINGS WORKING HOURS
Must call (+357) 22 667758 or 22667795 in advance for access to the Library of Things (operated by KyklOIKOdromio).
Monday to Friday 9:00AM – 5:00PM
LENDING POLICY
These terms and conditions apply to anyone who borrows items from our Library of Things.
They outline what you can expect from us, but also what we expect from you.
By borrowing an item, you will be deemed to have agreed to:
(a) these terms and conditions
(b) pay any amount that is charged for borrowing the item
(c) be over 18 years old
Borrowing Eligibility
Borrowing is limited to registered members of the Library of Things.
Membership eligibility criteria are outlined during the registration process.
Registered Member Responsibilities
Members agree to treat staff and volunteers with respect when visiting and using the Library of Things
Members agree to use items borrowed in a safe and responsible manner and consistent with the item’s intended purpose and follow manual or guide instructions for use when available.
Members agree to treat any items borrowed from the Library of Things with reasonable care and return them in clean and working condition.
Members must inspect items before borrowing and report any existing damages to library staff and agree to report any fault in any item borrowed from the Library of Things as soon as possible.
Members agree to return items borrowed from the Library of Things on or before the end of the agreed borrowing period.
Members are responsible for any item damages caused during the borrowing period.
If members want to extend the borrowing period, they must go on the Library web and extend the lending period before the end of the agreed borrowing period and pay the required additional borrowing fees.
It is the member’s responsibility to protect items against loss.
Members agree to settle any payments required promptly.
Lending Periods
The standard lending period for items starts at a minimum of 1 day, subject to item type and demand.
Lending periods may be extended if there are no pending reservations for the item and only through the circularlibraryforall.org website.
Renewals
Members may request a renewal of the lending period if there are no pending reservations for the item only online through the circularlibraryforall.org website by booking the required item again for the dates they wish.
Reservations
Members can reserve and pay for items in advance through the online booking calendar of each item at circularlibraryforall.org.
Late Returns
A grace period of 1 day will be provided for late returns.
Late fees of 5 euros amount per day will be charged after the grace period.
This amount should be paid in cash to the staff of the Library of Things.
Lost or Damaged items and Replacement
Members are responsible for the care and safekeeping of borrowed items and any item damages caused during the borrowing period.
Members agree to report any fault in any item borrowed from the Library of Things as soon as possible.
Fees will be assessed for lost or irreparably damaged items, equivalent to the cost of replacement. The cost of replacement should be paid in cash.
Return Procedure
Items must be returned to the Library of Things during operating hours.
Items should be returned in the same condition as borrowed, with all accessories and components.
Item Inspection
Library staff will inspect items upon return for damages and completeness.
Members will be notified of any damages, and applicable fees will be charged on the spot and paid in cash.
Item availability
Availability of items is subject to demand and lending policies.
The Library of Things reserves the right to limit the number of items borrowed concurrently.
Communication
Members agree to receive reminders for upcoming due dates and notifications about reservations and communication regarding their borrowed items and other relevant information.
Members are encouraged to promptly report any issues with borrowed items.
Specialty items
Certain high-demand or specialty items may have specific lending restrictions or eligibility criteria.
Liability
The Library of Things is not liable for any injury, damage or loss incurred while using borrowed items. Members are responsible for the safe and proper use of items borrowed from the Library.
Membership Termination
The Library of Things reserves the right to terminate or suspend memberships for violation of terms or disruptive behaviour.
Privacy and Data Security
The Library of Things will handle member information in accordance with privacy laws.
Member data will not be shared with third parties without explicit consent.
Policy Updates
The Library of Things reserves the right to update these terms and conditions. Members will be notified of any changes.
Policy Acknowledgement
Members acknowledge their understanding and agreement with this lending policy upon borrowing items from the Library of Things.
By borrowing items, members agree to adhere to the terms outlined in this lending policy. Failure to comply may result in fees, suspension of borrowing privileges, or termination of membership.
By registering to circularlibraryforall.org and using the services provided you agree:
- That the information provided during registration are true and up to date
- To follow the lending guidelines
- To pay an overdue fine if the item borrowed is returned late
- To pay full repair and/or replacement costs if the item borrowed is stolen, lost, not returned, or damaged
- In consideration of being permitted to borrow items, I hereby voluntarily waive, release, and discharge and covenant not to sue the Library of Things, its respective successors, assigns, officers, agents, employees, and volunteer (hereafter referred to as “Releasees”) from any and all claims, actions or demands of any kind, nature and description, including claims or actions for damages for death, personal injury, or property damage and from any and all liabilities, damage, injuries, action or causes of action either at law or in equity, whether caused by any defect in the item, negligent act or omission of the Releasees, or otherwise arising out of or in any way related to or connected with my borrowing the items
